Last month two forward thinking women from the CBC Ottawa communications team got in touch with me: they wanted to get involved with GEM in some way, and wanted to help us spread our message.
CBC Ottawa will be onsite with some cool charging stations (if your phone is anything like mine it may need a mid-day charge!).
No one can do it all, and in the world of entrepreneurship - or even for those working to advance their careers in the corporate world - understanding your weaknesses is just as important as understanding your strengths.
1. Be clear on which area of your business/career you need help with.2. Find a coach that is a good fit for you in terms of both skillset and personality.3. Be honest with your coach. (IF you're not you won't get everything you could out of it).
Whether we realise it or not, storytelling is an underlying piece of almost everything you do with your business - whether you’re building your brand, closing a sale, or just telling a friend why you started out on your own in the first place!
Stories are how we connect and relate to people; we find common ground with strangers through sharing stories of who we are and experiences we’ve had. Find out how our gem speakers use storytelling in their own branding.
If I could go back in time, I would have named these blogs “Look Who’s Talking” and “Look Who’s Talking, Too” in honour of those late ‘80s / early ‘90s movies starring John Travolta and Kirstie Alley.
I can’t go back in time (and since you savvy modern business women would notice a title swap), we’re sticking with what we have. So on that note, let’s check out who is speaking during the afternoon sessions at GEM Conference!
